Upick flowers and fruit.
Westbank Corner Fruit Stall is the fourth stop on the Westside Farm Loop, and is family owned and operated since 1919! They are located on the corner of Elliott Rd and Solar Rd. This is in close proximity to Westbank Centre, which means that local fruit, produce and herbs are practically right at your fingertips! As we pulled in, we were greeted by Barb, who runs the fruit stall and tends to the farm.
We were expecting to see mainly fruit, but Barb was excited to show us her expansive herb garden that has been harvested over the past 5 years. The garden is pleasing to the eyes and the nose. We were constantly stopping to sniff the fresh oregano, thyme, lavender, sage, lemon balm, and purple basil – just to name a few! Barb plucked us a stalk of lemon verbena to sniff, and informed us that she has been drinking it daily in tea. Lemon verbena is known for its antioxidant and antifungal properties, and the aroma is refreshing and relaxing – perfect for making a destressing beverage! In addition to the many herbs, there are purple beans (which turn green when cooked) and eggplant. All of the herbs are available for U-Pick. We recommend you take a relaxing stroll through the herb garden and stop for a few pictures with the colourful sunflowers and echinacea plants.
The fruit available at Westbank Corner Fruit Stall includes cherries, apricots, peaches, nectarines, plums, apples, grapes, prunes, pears, and quince. You can pick it yourself or buy it freshly picked.
There is no shortage of trees to pick from, and as you are making your way through the rows you may even run into an alpaca friend! Cocoa and Shuttle roam the farm and are lovingly portrayed on a mural.
We appreciate Barb welcoming us and showing us all that Westbank Corner Fruit Stall has to offer. Westbank Corner Fruit Stall is open 9am to 5pm, seven days a week from June to October. Stop by the Westbank Corner Fruit Stall, or pop into the Westbank Museum and Visitor Centre to sample to some of their fruit!
