2021 Ho Ho Holidays Event Guide

It’s time to get festive! There are some great holiday events taking place in West Kelowna over the coming weeks. Use this handy Ho Ho Holidays Event Guide and make the most of this holiday season.

From Light Up events and craft markets to wine touring passports, a gingerbread house and photos with Santa, there is lots of holiday cheer to enjoy on the Westside in December!

Light Up on Brown Rd | December 3 | 5:00pm – 8:00pm | Fireworks @ 8:30pm

Light Up will take place on Brown Rd and the flipping of the switch will take place at 6pm. There will be food vendors, kid’s activities and several community groups participating in this year’s event. Stop by the photo booth, roast some marshmallows, drop off a letter to Santa, try some ice fishing, watch the Zamboni bring Santa, or just come for the lights!
New this year FIREWORKS! Subject to weather, these high-altitude fireworks will be set off at 8:30pm and can be viewed from any place in Westbank Center.

Season of Trees | November 29 – January
Location: Mission Hill Family Estate | 1730 Mission Hill Rd | website link

Enjoy a brilliant forest of sparkling, sponsor-decorated trees, set outdoors on the covered Terrace and Loggia.
To further get in the holiday spirit, book a tour that includes a special behind-the-scenes tour of Mission Hill’s underground barrel cellar. A seated wine tasting follows, pairing newly released wines with delicious festive bites. Ten dollars from every Season of Trees tasting booked this year goes directly to youth mental health programs offered through BC Children’s Hospital.

Sip into the Season Passport Event | December 1 – 15 | various wineries

Discover the magic of winter along the Westside Wine Trail with their annual Sip into the Season event. Visit participating tasting rooms for a tasting, get a jump start on holiday shopping and most importantly get your special event passport stamped. Get six stamps and you could be entered to win some prizes. (Tasting fees may apply). Passports can be picked up at any of the participating wineries as well as the West Kelowna and Kelowna Visitor Centres.

Celebrate the holiday season at The Festive Market at Quails’ Gate. Enjoy complimentary mulled wine around the fire with live, local entertainment all while checking gifts off your holiday list from their local artisan market. Fridays and Saturdays in December from 4pm – 8pm.

Christmas Market & Winterfest | December 4 – 19

The Okanagan has such a great community of artisans and crafters that it makes it easy to shop local this year. Grizzli Winery has teamed up with Beacon’s Furrey Fundations Society for a destination holiday extravaganza. Check out the daily evening outdoor market or the indoor market on the weekends.

It will be a festive month of indoor and outdoor holiday shopping, mulled wine, artisan vendors, food and drink, Santa, carollers, a light tunnel, and entertainment at Grizzli Winery. Food trucks will be serving up some street food and the market is family and pet friendly!

A Holiday Artisan Market with Indigenous artisans, crafters, entrepreneurs and food vendors.

 

Gingerbread House | December 6 – 23 | 9am – 4pm
Location: Westbank Museum | 2376 Dobbin Rd

See the Westbank Museum’s pioneer house display decked out in beautiful Christmas décor. On December 13th & 15th a special visit from Saint Nick will take place. If you love to decorate Gingerbread Houses, the Museum is having a contest, just drop off your decorated house by December 10th. Please note that the Museum and Gingerbread House are closed on weekends.
Vaccine passports are required for everyone 12+ and masks are required for ages 5+. Admission by donation.

Celebrate the wonder of winter! Plan your next visit to Gellatly Nut Farm Regional Park in December to take in the sparkling lights when they light up the park. For ten days, the orchard and heritage buildings will be lit up and park hours will be extended to 8pm for self-guided evening visits. Drop-in, registration is not required.

Photos with Santa | Dec 11 | noon – 4pm
Location: Truck ’59 Ciderhouse | 3887 Brown Rd

Santa and Mrs. Claus are making an appearance at Truck ’59 Ciderhouse on December 11th. Stop by to get your photo taken with Santa and stay awhile longer for some fun. There will be a bonfire, a kids craft station, cider, vendors, and a food truck on site.

Public Skating

The Mt. Boucherie Recreation Complex will host a number of holiday-themed Public Skate and Parent and Tot Skate sessions throughout December. Holiday-themed activities include lights, decorations, and music.

Dining in the Domes

Dine in magical domes on the lakefront property of Frind Winery. Upon arrival, all guests are welcomed with a glass of Frind Mulled Wine while being escorted to their individual dome. Slip away for an evening under the stars and enjoy a specially curated dinner menu prepared by amazing chefs along with a pairing of Frind wines! Menus change on a weekly basis. The minimum reservation in each dome is 4 guests and the maximum is 6 guests.
