Top Beaches in West Kelowna, including Spray Parks, Parks, and Pools
The summer heat is here with temperatures reaching the high 20’s and low 30’s. We love our Okanagan heat, but what we also love are ways to cool down and beat it! Here are our top 7 ways to beat the heat in West Kelowna!
Beach time at Willow Beach
Willow Beach is a sandy beach that is located in the Gellatly Bay area. This is a favourite place for tourists and locals alike. Washrooms are next to the beach and there is a concession stand across the road.

Kids Spray Park
Run through the sprayers and try to catch the water jumpers at this kids park. Washrooms and change rooms are onsite. The park is surrounded by grass, so bring a blanket and some chairs. After an afternoon at the park, head to DQ, which is located ½ block away, for an ice cream treat. The park is wheelchair and stroller accessible.

Ziplining and Pier Jumping
Located in the Gellatly Bay Waterfront area is the historic CNR Wharf. This recently renovated wharf now includes jumping platforms, a floating dock, and a zipline. This spot is super popular for people of all ages.

Johnson Bentley Memorial Aquatic Centre (please call for hours of operation – 778-797-7665)
Not a beach person, but still like to swim? Head to the Johnson Bentley Aquatic Centre where you will find a 25-metre pool, slides, hot tub, steam room, warm soaking pool, a rainmaker, and a Tarzan rope for children. Chair lifts are also available here.

Pritchard Park
Tucked away in a residential neighbourhood is a fabulous family-friendly park and beach. The beach is coarse sand/small pebbles and has a dock that is perfect for sunbathing on. This park/beach also has grassy areas, large trees for shade, washrooms, a playground, and a beach volleyball court.

Air Conditioned Movies
When hitting the beach isn’t enough to cool you down a nice air-conditioned movie theatre might! The Landmark Xtreme shows new releases (this movie theatre was also voted one of the best movie theatres in Canada by Chatelaine magazine).

Ice Cream Treats
Another great way to beat the heat is to have an ice cream treat. Paynter’s Fruit Market is a popular place for hard ice cream. If frozen yogurt is your thing, the Sonic Car Wash has a great selection of frozen yogurts and toppings and West Kelowna also has two Dairy Queens for blizzards and sundaes!
